- The Lord disciplines those He loves.

- The Lord seems to discipline more harshly along the lines of how we represent His gospel to others.
- Matthew 6:14-15 – For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.
- Matthew 20:21-22 – Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
- Unforgiveness is destructive to us
- How am I responding to the Lord’s discipline?
- James 1:2-3 – Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
- I’m going to be thankful when my spouse doesn’t behave in the way that I deserved… when life doesn’t go my way…
- Just trust in the lord…
- Proverbs 3:11-12 – My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in - Proverbs 3:5-6 – rust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
