Patrice Ilene (Wentz) Schlonecker passed from the loving arms of her family into the everlasting arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Friday morning, September 2, 2016, from complications following a brief illness. The family, while affirming trust in the purpose and plan of our Sovereign and gracious God, will miss her beyond measure. The LORD is our ROCK and salvation, but Pat was the “rock” of her family. As a wife, Pat was everything to Bill. Childhood sweethearts who shared the same birthday, they did everything together. Pat’s unwavering support and partnership made Bill the Pastor he is. As Mom, she was there to share in every little detail of life, joy and sorrow, no matter how significant or insignificant! As Grandma, her tender, loving heart endeared her to her granddaughters from birth. Her regular “care packages,” babysitting at a moment’s notice, and hugs and kisses left no doubt of her joy in their lives. For all of us, she was always “three steps ahead.” It was she who held down the home front with organization and unconditional love and support. She had a servant heart, hosting so many over the years – the congregation, friends, extended family, neighbors, ELI students, and even strangers. Everyone who met her knew her caring and loving ways very quickly. Patrice was raised in the Lehigh Valley, PA, and graduated from Emmaus High School in 1973. She proudly served four years in the United States Navy and in 1976 earned the “Shore Sailor of the Quarter” award and was a finalist for the “Shore Sailor of the Year” award. She poured her heart into being a homemaker, providing a safe, loving environment and leaving her legacy in each of our lives. Later in life, true to her heart, she served as a loving caregiver to numerous elderly folks in the end of their journey. Pat enjoyed a good snowstorm, making every holiday and birthday memorable, and especially enjoyed spending time with Bill, their daughters, granddaughters, and friends, whether a planned outing or simply being together. She cherished family vacations, most often at the beach or the family cabin. She was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church of Newark, DE, and as “Pastor’s Wife,” was an extension of her husband’s ministry.

She is survived by her adoring husband of 42 years, Bill Schlonecker, Senior Pastor of the Bible Fellowship Church of Newark, Delaware; four beautiful daughters: Amy Susek (Aaron), Andrea Rohrer (Jason), Amber Ross (Chase), and Anne Schlonecker; five precious granddaughters: Callie (10), Megan (8), Kathryn (6), Emmeline (3), and Claire (1); three brothers: Paul Wentz III, Phillip Wentz, Peter Wentz; stepmother: Cheryl Wentz; many beloved brothers and sisters in law as well as thirteen nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul I. Wentz, Jr. and Orpha L. (Stortz) Wentz.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 9-11 AM at the Bible Fellowship Church of Newark, DE, 808 Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE 19702. A service in celebration of Pat’s life will follow at 11 AM. There will be a private interment in Northwood Cemetery in Emmaus, PA. Pat’s relationship with Jesus Christ began at Victory Valley Camp as a young girl. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Victory Valley Camp “Path to Victory” Fund for a new dining hall to be built. Gifts can be mailed to Victory Valley Camp, 7472 Sigmund Road, Zionsville, PA, 18092 or Bible Fellowship Church.  For directions or to send an online condolence visit
